Birthday Cake- Ladybuggy

My neice is nicknamed "Bug" so I decided why not a ladybug cake. Funny enough when she came to her little party she had on a yellow gingham dress with ladybugs on it! So perfect :)

Birthday Cake- Mickey Mouse Club House

Mickey Mouse Club House! My son loves this show so when my cousin asked me to make his daughters birthday cake in this theme I was super excited. Super fun!

Marble cake with chocolate cream cheese filling covered in fondant with fondant accents.

Sweet 16 Purple & Lime Green- Party Cake

White cake frosted and filled in buttercream than covered in white fondant. Royal icing accents.

This cake was for a Sweet 16 and the only instructions were something to include purple and lime green. I had an image in my head that i felt had been done over and over sooo at Michaels when I saw this fabulous peacock ribbon that had just the right colors I came up with this. These pictures really are terrible! I took them with my phone in my dark kitchen sooo when I get a better picture I will post it for sure.

Paisley Boy Cake- Baby Shower

White cake with buttercream frosting.

This is actually my baby shower cake I made for myself! Haha I had so much going on I didn't have much time to make something super fancy but I knew I wanted blue and brown with paisley accents. I have this new thing with paisley and in an attempt to pipe them on myself without anything to look at they kinda turned out look like poo. Haha better luck next time! Tasted very yummy though!!

Lamb Cake- Baby Shower

Lamb- Cherry chip cake covered in fondant with buttercream and fondant accents.
Lamb Head- Crispy treeats covered in fondant.
Green Pasture- Marble cake with buttercream frosting and fondant accents.

This cake was soo much fun to make! One of my best friends is having a baby girl and she choose to do lambs in the nursery so I decided to stick with that theme. The lamb cake idea I stole from a friend and then added a pasture underneath. Definitely one of my favorite cakes!

Easter party cake

Strawberry cake with strawberry custard filling, buttercream frosting and fondant accents.

My mother in law asked if I could make a cake for the family easter party and this is what I came up with. I had originally planned on a fun colorful rainbow cake but I was told an Easter cake without a bunny just wouldn't be right haha.

Flower Cupcakes- Jewelry Party

Chocolate cupcakes with almond buttercream filling, buttercream frosting and buttercream flower accents.
These fancy cupcakes were for a jewelry party. The hostess wanted something fun to snack on while trying on the beautiful jewels. The little flowers were fun and super easy to make.

Rose Cake- Bridal Shower

Marble cake frosted in buttercream with buttercream filling.
Wanted to try this technique i had seen on a website but didn't know if it would work on a two tiered cake. I think it turned out great! Tried to make the roses look a little antiqued to match the tea party themed shower. Heard the bride was very happy so all is well : )

Cake Class Final!

Chocolate cake with coconut cream filling and frosted in buttercream. Covered in fondant with fondant accents.
This is a cake I did in the fondant class I took at Michaels. The quality of some of these photos isn't the best but they were taken on my phone so please forgive me! I'd really like to try this bow again in a multi-colored look so maybe one day!

Work In Progress

Have some other pictures to post but tonight I am working on the actual blog! Hoping to make some progress but so far things are a little sketchy! Bear with me while I try and get various posts to end up in their correct spots. Soon my blog will be up and running, ready for your viewing pleasure :)

Baby Shower Cake

Such a fun little monkey cake!! Second time dealing with fondant but it really turned out nicely. The top 6" layer was chocolate banana cake with vanilla pudding filling. Bottom 8" layer was yellow cake also with vanilla pudding filling. All marshmallow fondant accents. Thanks again to Kristina Christensen and her photography skills ;)

K Birthday Cake

One of my favorite cakes designed to pay homage to a photographer friends beautiful landscape shot. The cake was lemon with almond buttercream, almond cream cheese filling and royal icing flower accents. Here is the link to her gorgeous photo http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=141490965892336&aid=34677#!/photo.php?fbid=187421594632606&set=a.171405089567590.34677.141490965892336&theater

Cat Birthday

This cake was super fun! My first carved cake AND first shot at fondant. The cake was chocolate a coating of buttercream and chocolate marshmallow fondant. Donald is very fond of his cat and they knew he would love having a cat cake dedication.

T Birthday Cake/Cupcakes

I thought I would start off by adding pictures of my first cake ever! This cake and cupcakes were for my sons 1st birthday party. Hot Wheels was the theme. The cupcakes were chocolate and yellow cake with oreos topping buttercream icing. The cake was a 9" round strawberry cake with buttercream frosting decoration/filling.

I would also like to mention my photographer friend Krisitna Christensen who takes most of the fabulous photos of my cakes. She has a gift and I've posted a link to her website in my inspiration tab on the sidebar. Check her out and tell her Bakes My Heart sent you : ) http://kristinachristensenphotography.com/
